Subject:
Fuel hose, cloth covering, black
DIN 73379 8 x 13 NBR and 6.0 x 11.0
Fuel hose, rubber covering, black
DIN 73379 - 1 - 8.0 x 3.0 MM NBR/CO/CR and 6.0 x 3.0 MM NBR/CO/CR
Affected:
All aircraft of the type IKARUS C42
Reason:
Fine cracks in the fuel hoses in the vicinity of the engine due to brittleness caused
by tight fuel tubing radials. In the case of cloth-covered hoses, the fine cracks which
were not visible under the cloth covering also led to the covering becoming damp
when the hoses were under pressure.
Action:
- Inspection of fuel hoses in the vicinity of the engine: switch on the auxiliary
pump with the engine off to increase pressure and then scan the fuel hoses near the
engine.
- Replace the fuel hoses between the auxiliary pump by-pass and the carburettors
after 2 years or 200 hours of operation, whichever comes first.
Compliance:
- Check every 50 hours
- If appropriate, check before the next flight.
Mass and balance:
No change
Accomplishment:
Action has to be accomplished by a qualified person.
Warning:
Do not undertake this action near an open fire or a spark source. Smoking
prohibited!
